​J.Gill and Company was hired to repair the Pool Deck at the Double Tree Hotel on the Magnificent Mile in downtown Chicago. The pool deck was neglected for many years and the ownership elected to modernize the overall look of the deck with a unique design. Post-Tension tendon repairs and miscellaneous concrete repairs were completed first, then the existing pool deck coating was completely removed. In order to address areas of ponding water and puddles, isolated areas of epoxy overlay were installed to achieve proper drainage. A new polyurethane waterproofing system was installed. The final topcoat color used 5 different shades of gray to complete the unique design. The concrete repairs were completed in the spring of 2018 (April/May), while the waterproofing was done in the fall of 2018(September/October). This allowed the pool to remain open for guests during the summer months.
